Wrong way driver arrested for DUII and reckless driving, police officials said
Eugene, OR – According to the police officials, this unfortunate incident occurred right before 1 a.m. early Sunday morning.
Central Lane 911 dispatch received multiples calls regarding a Chevy Silverado travelling east in the westbound lane of Beltline Highway from Prairie Road.
Ultimately, the truck’s driver exited at Delta Highway and Green Acres Road.
Two Eugene Police officers located the truck going through the Goodwill parking lot and attempted a stop. The driver, later identified as Delores Marie Gorski, age 72, failed to yield and continued driving at low speeds.
Gorski attempted to go north on Delta Highway. To prevent her continued driving and threat to the rest of the vehicles on the road, the two officers boxed her in, skillfully using techniques they train for, and forced her vehicle to a stop.
There was no damage to any involved vehicles and Gorski was able to get out of her vehicle. A continuing investigation found Gorski was impaired. She was transported to Lane County Jail and lodged on charges including DUII and Reckless Driving.
