The Oregon Health Authority reported 1,643 new coronavirus cases and 28 COVID-19 related deaths

Eugene, OR – According to the report, majority of the people reported dead were in their 80s or 90s. The Oregon Health Authority also reported that 8,768 vaccine doses were administered across the state.
This means that the Oregon State has administered 34% of its current vaccine supply, a 5% increase from earlier this week.
Unfortunately, our state is one of many states struggling to administer vaccines as quickly as residents are desiring due to a combination of factors, including the reliance on hospital systems to provide the doses, a lack of trained individuals to administer the vaccines.
It also includes the reliance on a tiered approach that looks to inoculate hundreds of thousands of healthcare workers before the rest of the state’s population.
The state hopes to hit its 12,000-per-day vaccine goal by the end of next week. This story will be updated.
