Sen. Wyden says he wants to get workers the rights and money they need
From the 2020 election results to the coronavirus pandemic – we sat down with Oregon Senator Ron Wyden this week to discuss a slew of hot topics on Capitol Hill.
On COVID-19:
“I think it’s just unconscionable when Oregon leads the country in so many areas,” Sen. Wyden said, “and now Oregon is lagging behind in making sure our workers get their rights and get the money they need.”
Especially during a time where many are still in need of money for groceries, rent or mortgage and bills.
The senator says he will be keeping a close eye on them, making sure they’re accountable.
Next, the new Department of Defense head Chris Miller and the termination of Mark Esper:
“It’s very troubling,” Wyden said, “and there was a vote in the Intelligence Committee on Mr. Miller, and I was the one senator who opposed him.”
Senator Wyden says President Trump fired someone who wouldn’t order troops to attack peaceful protesters, and is replacing him with someone he believes will carry out those orders.
He says Oregonians should be vigilant and make sure our national security is protected from now until January 20, the inauguration date for President-Elect Joe Biden.
As for the Affordable Care Act, the senator believes President-Elect Biden will build off the original law and negotiate with lawmakers to bring down the price of prescription medication.
