Eugene
The City of Eugene Parks and Open Space has completed renovation of the Amazon running trail
This amazing project was funded with $1-million from the parks bond passed two years ago by voters.
The 5.5 mile trail were based on community feedback.
As part of the renovation, they have created a thicker rock base for long term stability.
They also added new surfacing and drainage and just created a more durable running surface.
In addition, they added habitat-sensitive lighting throughout the trail, between the forest and the creek.
With the pandemic, more people are out using Eugene’s park system. Masks are required on trails, especially where it’s difficult to maintain a six foot distance.
