Motorcyclist hospitalized after crashing into guardrail near Beltline Highway and Delta Highway ramp, speed believed to be factor
Eugene, OR – A motorcyclist was hospitalized after crashing into a guardrail near the Beltline Highway and Delta Highway interchange in Eugene on May 30, according to the Eugene Police Department.
Police said officers were dispatched to the crash at approximately 7:41 p.m. after receiving reports that a Harley-Davidson motorcycle had struck a guardrail in a grassy area between eastbound Beltline Highway and the Delta Highway on-ramp.
Before first responders arrived, bystanders stopped to assist the rider, a man in his late 30s, who was reportedly attempting to stand following the crash.
An Eugene police officer then took over efforts to stabilize the motorcyclist until medics with the Eugene Springfield Firearrived at the scene.
The rider was treated by paramedics and transported to a local hospital with injuries that were described as non-life-threatening.
Authorities said no other vehicles were involved in the collision.
Investigators do not believe intoxication played a role in the crash. However, police reported that the motorcyclist was believed to have been speeding prior to the collision.
The incident remains under investigation.
