Jacksonville, FL – A Florida man is behind bars and has been charged with first-degree murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in connection with Monday’s fatal incident, which left one man dead. Authorities say the 29-year-old defendant, RooseveIt, killed the unidentified victim by stabbing him to death. First responders arrived on the scene only to find the victim suffering from severe stab wounds to the neck and head. He was pronounced dead at the scene, and the 29-year-old man was taken into custody shortly after.

The investigation began on Monday after multiple 911 calls alerted the dispatcher about an attack. The responding officers made contact with witnesses who reportedly told them they had seen the attack. According to the witnesses, the defendant approached the victim and began stabbing him. Authorities stated that the defendant and the victim did not know each other, and the attack was unprovoked. The victim, found lying on the street and bleeding profusely, was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the witnesses, the man reportedly stabbed the victim to death before walking to a nearby bench and sitting down. Another witness said the victim was riding his bicycle when the defendant approached him and then stabbed him several times. The defendant then casually walked to the bench and sat down. The responding officers took the defendant into custody.

During the investigation, authorities made contact with the defendant’s parent, who reportedly told them her son had attempted to stab her right before he killed the man. According to the woman, the man reportedly wanted to stab her, but the tool got caught in her sweater. Moments later, the defendant’s relative, Philips, walked in only to be chased by the defendant. The defendant also attempted to stab his relative, but she was able to lock herself in a room. The defendant then walked out of the apartment and stabbed the victim to death.

During an interview with investigators, the defendant reportedly admitted to stabbing the victim. The defendant also told investigators that he didn’t know the victim and reportedly asked, “Is the little man dead?” “I just hit him. I just started hitting him. He was just riding on his bike, drinking his beer,” the defendant reportedly told investigators. The 29-year-old man is being held without bond, court records say.
