Eugene Police arrest 26-year-old man in April stabbing investigation
Eugene, OR – The Eugene Police Department announced the arrest of a suspect in connection with a stabbing investigation that began in late April.
According to police, Central Lane 911 received a call on April 23 at approximately 9:43 p.m. reporting a stabbing at the intersection of Washington Street and West 12th Avenue. Officers arrived on scene, located a 37-year-old male victim, and provided emergency medical aid until he was transported to a local hospital by Eugene Springfield Fire.
The Lane County Sheriff’s Office and Oregon State Police assisted in the search for a suspect at the time, deploying K9 units, but no arrest was immediately made.
The case was later assigned to the Eugene Police Violent Crimes Unit, which continued the investigation. On May 12, officers arrested 26-year-old Donald Riley Nelson in Albany, Oregon.
Police said Nelson was lodged at the Lane County Jail on charges of Assault in the First Degree and Unlawful Use of a Weapon.
