ESF crews respond to early morning house fire on Riviera Court
Eugene, OR – Eugene Springfield Fire crews responded just before 4 a.m. on December 13 to a reported house fire in the 2800 block of Riviera Court in Springfield. Initial reports indicated that one adult was unaccounted for.
Engine 5 from the Gateway station arrived at 3:59 a.m. and reported a working fire in the garage. Firefighters deployed hose lines and conducted search operations in the garage, assisted by Engine 4, despite low visibility and obstacles from belongings stored in the area.
Crews located a victim shortly after entering the garage. The individual was transported to Riverbend by Engine 14, EMS 1, and Medic 4, but unfortunately succumbed to injuries shortly after arrival.
Firefighters successfully extinguished the fire without it spreading to the primary residence. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. No additional injuries were reported, and the Lane County Trauma Intervention Program was activated to support the victim’s family at the scene.
