Indianapolis, IN – According to the court documents, the 32-year-old dad, later identified as Daviid, was sentenced to nearly two decades behind bars after jury found him guilty of child neglect. Prosecutors claim the defendant allowed his baby to suffer life-threatening injuries and nearly lose his life after he was bitten more than five dozen times by ratts. When the baby’s mom and dad were asked how they could possibly allow such injuries to be inflicted on a baby, they reportedly said that they did not hear the child cry.

The investigation process began last year in September after the parent called 911 and told the dispatcher that his son had blood on his hands and his fingers were bitten by something. First responders rushed the child to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. The medical staff told investigators that the child lost a lot of blood and needed bIood transfusion. The child also loss several fingers due to the injuries.

During the investigation process, authorities discovered that the baby had more than five dozen bites on his body. The child was missing fIesh from all fingers and several of his fingers had to be amputated. Authorities also said the parent called 911 after he woke up and realized his baby’s hands were covered in blood. The parents’ bed was several feed away from the baby’s bed, police officials said.

The parents’ home was lnfested with r0dents, police officials said. The victim’s mom, AngeI, and the victim’s aunt, DeIaina, were also charged and convicted. The aunt was sentenced to 2 year suspended prison sentence and the mother will be sentenced later this month, court records say. The DA’s office released a statement, saying that when the responding officers arrived on scene, the baby was laying in his crib in a pool of bIood and the bites were so bad on his body — including his face, mouth, and extremities — that they left bone showing on one hand and he is now permanently disfigured.
