an in custody after standoff closes rest area near Cottage Grove
A man is in custody after a standoff closed a rest area four miles north of Cottage Grove.
Oregon State Police had been negotiating with the man since about 10 a.m. after he reportedly threatened to stab someone at the Gettings Creek Rest Area. Authorities said he showed a knife of some kind and then got back in his car.
Minutes later, troopers arrived and began talking with the man. Soon after, armored vehicles arrived and surrounded the car to prevent the man from driving off.
Just before noon, the man was taken into custody.
