22-year-old woman arrested for DUII after driving over sidewalk, handing officer credit card instead of license and refusing to get into patrol car
Eugene, OR – A 22-year-old Eugene woman was arrested for DUII early Saturday morning after an officer reported seeing her red Prius hit a curb, drive over a sidewalk and continue onto Garfield Street before eventually stopping at a nearby business.
The Eugene Police Department said the incident happened at about 2:16 a.m. October 3, when an officer passing the Wetlands Bar saw the Prius strike a curb in the parking lot, back up and then speed over the curb and sidewalk.
The officer activated emergency lights to initiate a traffic stop, but the driver initially did not respond and continued driving before eventually pulling over.
The driver was identified as Bianca Navarro. When the officer asked for her driver’s license, Navarro instead handed the officer a credit card, according to police.
Navarro admitted to drinking alcohol and was given field sobriety tests before being arrested for DUII.
Police said Navarro then refused to walk to the patrol vehicle or get into the back seat, using her foot against the outside of the vehicle as a brace. She eventually sat on the ground and refused to get up, requiring officers to carry her into the patrol car.
Once inside, police said Navarro screamed and yelled and began repeatedly striking her head against the vehicle.
Because of her behavior, officers were unable to administer a breath test. A search warrant was subsequently obtained for a blood draw.
Navarro was booked into the Lane County Jail on charges of DUII and reckless driving.
