Eugene police investigate drug operation after SWAT raid leads to seizure of half-pound of meth, firearms-related items and stolen property
Eugene, OR – The Eugene Police Street Crimes Unit investigated a drug operation in the 100 block of Briarcliff Drive after community complaints about heavy vehicle, bicycle and foot traffic coming and going from a residence at all hours.
The investigation began in September after police received complaints and gathered additional information about activity at the residence. On Sept. 30, SCU obtained a Lane County Circuit Court search warrant for the home.
Because investigators believed a large number of people could be at the residence and had information that firearms were present, Eugene police SWAT, K9, Drone Team, Crisis Negotiation Team and detectives from multiple units assisted with serving the warrant.
Brian Willard Ferrell was arrested in the 2000 block of River Road after officers observed him leaving the residence. Police said approximately 27 grams of methamphetamine was seized from Ferrell, who was initially charged with unlawful possession of methamphetamine in a substantial quantity. Additional investigation could result in further charges.
Roy Simon Oueis was contacted during the execution of the search warrant at the Briarcliff Drive residence and was ultimately arrested.
Police said approximately a half-pound of methamphetamine was located and seized during the investigation, along with $3,624 in U.S. currency, scales and packaging material.
Investigators also seized a large amount of ammunition, a spring-assisted knife and recovered stolen property from the residence.
Oueis was charged with unlawful delivery of methamphetamine, unlawful possession of methamphetamine in a substantial quantity, felon in possession of a restricted weapon and unlawful possession of ammunition by certain persons.
Both Oueis and Ferrell were lodged at the Lane County Jail.
The Street Crimes Unit was assisted by the Oregon State Police and the Drug Enforcement Administration during the investigation.
Eugene police credited community members who initially reported activity at the residence, saying those complaints were crucial to the investigation.
SCU reminded residents that tips can be submitted anonymously, although investigators encouraged people to provide contact information when possible so they can obtain additional details. Police said names, addresses, vehicle information, phone numbers and photographs can be helpful to investigators.
The Street Crimes Unit focuses on prolific offenders and community safety issues through intelligence-based policing, public tips and cooperation with other agencies and community partners.
