Structure fire breaks out in Eugene multi-unit residence as crews find flames in first-floor kitchen
Eugene, OR – Eugene Springfield Fire crews responded to a structure fire Sunday morning at a multi-unit residential building in the 1600 block of High Street in Eugene.
Units were dispatched around 9:11 a.m. Sept. 20 after a caller reported seeing fire through a window near 17th Avenue and High Street. The downtown fire station responded as part of a full first-alarm response and arrived within about four minutes.
Crews initially located smoke coming from the second floor before finding fire in a first-floor kitchen. The building had been divided into multiple residential units.
No injuries were reported. All residents except those from the involved unit were able to remain in the building.
ESF fire marshals are investigating the cause of the fire. The property manager is working with residents of the affected unit regarding their housing needs.
