Eugene Police Department reminds drivers to avoid driving under the influence

Eugene, OR – The Eugene Police Department issued a safety reminder highlighting the dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Officers stressed that impaired driving slows reactions, blurs judgment, and can turn a few careless moments into a lifetime of regret.

Residents were encouraged to plan ahead if they intend to drink or use substances:

  • Arrange a sober ride

  • Call a friend or use a rideshare service

  • Stay overnight if necessary

The department emphasized that every time someone drives intoxicated, they put lives at risk, including their own, and urged the community to help keep Eugene’s roads safe for everyone.
