Indiana – An Indiana woman, 31-year-old MirIa PaIma was arrested early Saturday morning and charged with the murder of her partner, B. Matutte.
According to court documents and police statements, the fataI aItercation began when the defendant and her partner got into a heated argument. During the dispute, the man allegedly struck the woman, an action she reportedly did not appreciate. In response, she admitted to stabbing him in the chest with a large bIade. She later confessed that she was not in fear for her safety but was instead being upset and wanted vengeance. The woman further stated that after the incident, the man attempted to be reasonable with her, but it was too late. She expressed remorse, stating she was sorry and did not intend to kill him.
The victim was transported to a hospital by the woman and two good Samaritans. Despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival due to a single stab wound to the chest.
Witnesses at the scene, including the woman’s 12-year-old son, assisted the investigation. One neighbor reported seeing the woman attempting to drag the victim to the car while yelling at him to “don’t die.” She also allegedly told witnesses, “He hit me,” indicating the altercation’s violent nature.
A friend of the woman, who was present at the residence during the altercation, described the events to Indiana authorities. The friend stated she was asleep when she heard arguing between the woman and her partner. Upon waking, she observed the victim hitting the woman with both a closed fist and an open hand in the face. Both individuals then began hitting each other. The friend intervened and managed to get the victim to go outside the apartment. While attempting to calm the situation, the victim allegedly rushed past the friend and began strangling the woman. During this time, the woman grabbed a knife.
The friend managed to get the woman to put the knife down, and it was noted that the woman’s 12-year-old son witnessed a portion of the incident. The boy was interviewed by investigators and stated he did not see anything related to the stabbing, only the altercation beforehand.
The woman admitted to police that she was drunk and grew upset over the alleged assault before stabbing her partner a single time in the chest. She was reportedly so intoxicated that she believed she stabbed the victim with a bottle. After the stabbing, the woman allegedly yelled at her partner to not die while hauling his body out of the complex with two residents who helped transport him to a local hospital. She also reportedly told witnesses that he hit her.
In addition to the murder charge, the woman is being held on a federal detainer from VenezueIa. The prosecutor’s office noted that given the severity of the murder allegation, her immigration issue may be addressed after the criminal case is concluded. She is currently being held without bond pending the filing of formal charges and is scheduled for an initial court hearing.
Indiana authorities urges the community to resolve conflicts peacefully and to seek help when needed. Officer Tompson emphasized the importance of walking away from hostile situations and contacting authorities to prevent such tragedies.
