Eugene Springfield Fire responds to house fire in Santa Clara district with no injuries reported
Eugene, OR – Eugene Springfield Fire crews responded to a house fire in the Santa Clara Fire district of North Eugene on Monday afternoon, August 4. Just after 3 p.m., firefighters were dispatched for automatic aid near the intersection of Maverick and Scottsdale Lane.
Upon arrival, Ladder 11 crews found a car burning behind the house, with flames extending into the attic. Firefighters launched an interior attack while simultaneously searching the home for occupants.
They successfully contained the fire to the exterior and attic area. No occupants were found inside, and no injuries were reported.
Lane Fire Authority will investigate the cause of the fire. The incident underscores the importance of mutual and automatic aid agreements, especially as Lane Fire Authority crews were engaged in two separate wildfire incidents within their district at the time.
These agreements help ensure prompt fire response even when local resources are heavily committed.
