Eugene Springfield fire responds to gas leak at downtown office building

Eugene, OR – On July 30 at 10:56 a.m., Eugene Springfield Fire (ESF) crews responded to a reported gas leak at 101 East Broadway, a five-story office building with a basement in downtown Eugene.
The response included four engines, two ladder trucks, two battalion chiefs, and an ambulance due to the size of the structure.
Firefighters evacuated the building and conducted floor-to-floor searches using gas monitors to detect any leaks.
The source was identified as a boiler appliance on the roof. Northwest Natural Gas assisted in locating the leak and is currently working to restore gas service.
The building at 101 East Broadway was evacuated during the operation, and traffic in the area was expected to be impacted for about an hour.
Eugene Police Department provided traffic control and secured the scene.
