Eugene Police celebrates the largest cadet group in more than 15 years, highlighting growth, mentorship, and future leadership
Eugene, OR – The Eugene Police Department is celebrating a major milestone as its Cadet Program reaches its largest group in more than 15 years, now boasting over 20 cadets actively participating in hands-on public safety training.
The growing program is designed to give young people a real-world introduction to law enforcement while fostering leadership, teamwork, and community service. Two of the newest graduates were recently recognized, highlighting the dedication and hard work that define the program.
Guiding these future public servants are six cadet advisors — four of whom are former cadets themselves. These mentors bring a wealth of experience from specialized units including SWAT, Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT), Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC), Major Response Team (MRT), Public Safety Response Team (PSRT), arson investigation, and recruitment.
With strong mentorship and a focus on skill development, the Eugene Police Cadet Program continues to invest in the next generation of law enforcement professionals.
