Pedestrian killed in crash on Amazon Parkway after vehicle loses control
Eugene, OR – On the morning of April 23, 2025, at approximately 9:45 a.m., a tragic incident occurred on Amazon Parkway in Eugene, resulting in the death of a pedestrian. The crash took place in the 2500 block of Amazon Parkway, near the notorious “s curves.”
According to Eugene Police, a man driving a Toyota Rav4 northbound on the parkway lost control of his vehicle. The car drove over a curb, through the grassy area, and struck a woman in her late 70s who was walking along the bark path. Following the collision, the vehicle crashed into a tree and rolled into the Amazon Slough. The driver was initially trapped inside the car but was able to escape through the back window.
The pedestrian, unfortunately, did not survive the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was rushed to a local hospital with unspecified injuries. Eugene Police’s Major Collision Investigation team has taken over the investigation of the crash, and authorities are working to determine the cause of the accident.
As a result of the crash, detours have been set up in the area, and residents are advised to take alternate routes while the investigation continues. The community is urged to remain cautious while travel restrictions are in place.
