Woman used her position of trust and authority as a tutor to indcently assault a minor student before the school day started, then claimed any reference to lntimacy was specifically about her husband; charged

Illinois – An Illinois woman was taken into custody earlier this week and later charged with multiple charges, including aggravated criminal se-ual abuse and criminal se-ual assault involving a mlnor maIe student. The arrest followed an investigation that began after the student’s parents reported concerning messages between the 30-year-old woman and their child.

The allegations center around an incident that occurred in December 2023, during a tutoring session that took place before school hours. The 30-year-old educator, later identified as Cristina, who had been serving as a sports coach for the student, was reportedly tutoring the boy, 15, in a classroom at the high school when the abuse occurred. According to police reports, the abuse was se-ual in nature.

The investigation into the matter was sparked when the student’s mother purchased a new iPhone for her son and, in reviewing his iCIoud account, discovered expIicit text messages exchanged between her son and the educator. The messages seemed to indicate that a sexual relationship had developed between the two, prompting the mother to contact the police.

After the police were alerted, they began an immediate investigation. On March 15, 2025, the woman was arrested following a traffic stop. During questioning by officers, the woman reportedly denied any se-ual contact with the student. However, investigators moved forward with charges based on the evidence found in the text messages and further interviews.

A sample of one text thread message involved the victim and the newly married teacher professing their love for each other.

Victim:   ‘I love you so so much mama.’
Educator: ‘I love you sooooo much baby… Even though this morning was short, it was perfect.’
Victim:  ‘I know baby it was perfect baby so perfect.’
Educator: ‘I love having sex with you.’
Victim:  ‘I know baby I love it so much… It feels so good… It’s so passionate. .. It’s so intimate … It’s so perfect.’

Formella faces serious charges, including aggravated criminal se-ual abuse and criminal se-ual assault. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working to determine whether additional charges will be filed. 

In response to the arrest, the school district placed the educator on administrative leave. The school district expressed shock and dismay over the allegations, emphasizing its commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of students. School officials noted that they are cooperating fully with law enforcement as the investigation continues.

“We are deeply disturbed by these allegations and will continue to work with the police to ensure a thorough investigation. The safety of our students is our top priority,” said Principal Arwan.

The case has raised questions about student safety and the need for increased vigilance when it comes to safeguarding young people in school settings. The local police department is continuing its investigation into the allegations, and further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
