Eugene Springfield Fire reminds residents of winter safety amid icy conditions and cold temperatures

Eugene, OR – The Eugene Springfield Fire Department is urging residents to stay safe as the Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until midday on Friday.

With icy conditions and frigid temperatures expected, many may turn to space heaters and heating pads to stay warm.

The department reminds the community to plug heaters directly into wall outlets, avoiding the use of power strips plugged into other power strips.

Incorrectly powering extra heat sources can lead to catastrophic fire risks.

The department extends its gratitude to the Oregon State Fire Marshal for providing helpful safety graphics.
