24-year-old man charged with felony hit and run and reckless driving in January pedestrian crash on E. 8th/Pearl
Eugene, OR – Eugene Police have charged a 24-year-old man in connection with a hit and run pedestrian crash that occurred on January 21, 2025, at the intersection of E. 8th Avenue and Pearl Street.
The suspect, Daquan Gabari Rucker, was arrested at Lane County Jail on an unrelated case and faces charges of felony hit and run and reckless driving.
The crash involved a 46-year-old Eugene man who was struck by a vehicle, which was found in a nearby parking lot, abandoned by the driver. Despite a K9 search at the time, the suspect was not located.
Eugene Police’s Major Collision Investigation team took over the case and issued a warrant for Rucker’s arrest. He was later apprehended by Springfield Police on unrelated charges.
The incident highlights the ongoing efforts of local law enforcement to track down suspects involved in hit and run crashes, as well as the close coordination between Eugene and Springfield Police.
