Eugene Springfield Fire crews responded to commercial fire at Chambers Communications on Chad Drive

Eugene, OR – According to the officials, Ladder 6 from the Sheldon station was dispatched to a fire alarm at Sound Stage 4 on the property.
Five minutes after arrival, the crew began investigating and discovered smoke coming from the building, along with an active alarm.
The crew called for a full first alarm assignment and worked on gaining access to the large warehouse-style sound stage, which was being used as storage for a local second-hand retailer’s holiday inventory.
Active fire was found in the building, with the sprinkler system operating. Due to the large volumes of smoke and collapsing stored goods, firefighters took a methodical approach to prevent further damage or injury.
Fires in large warehouse buildings present various challenges, including risks of getting lost, collapsing inventory, and the potential for cold smoke explosions. The fire was ultimately contained to the inventory inside the building, with no injuries reported.
A total of six engines, two trucks, two chiefs, one medic, one EMS supervisor, one support unit, and one deputy fire marshal responded to the scene. It took 2.5 hours to bring the fire under control, and crews remained on site for a total of 3.5 hours.
