Man killed the woman he ‘never loved as honestly as any other woman he was romantically involved with’ days after he was released from jail and on a no-contact order for previous assaults against her; sentenced
Minneapolis, MN – According to the court documents, the 40-year-old defendant, later identified as Mathew, was sentenced to 23 years and 9 months behind bars after he reportedly killed 33-year-old Danicca last year. Prosecutors said the defendant was sentenced after pleading guilty to second-degree murder several months ago. After killing the woman, the 40-year-old man reportedly left notes and then tried to take his own life.
The investigation process began in July last year after the victim’s neighbor heard yelling from the woman’s apartment. The responding officers found the victim, wrapped in bed sheets and plastic bags. The woman was reportedly dead for at least one day. The responding officers found the defendant lying on the bathroom floor. He reportedly swallowed bleach to try to take his own life.
The medical examiner told investigators that the victim’s body was covered with bruises. The woman was reportedly beaten and strangled to death. During the investigation process, authorities reportedly discovered that the man killed his girIfriend several days after he was released from jail and on a no-contact order for previous assaults against her.
When officers found the defendant in the victim’s apartment, they also found notes which were left by the 40-year-old man. In the notes, the defendant reportedly wrote: “I do not wish to divulge what all transpired, personal things exclusive to Danicca and myself to know or seem as though I’m trying to justify the many terrible, absurd or unacceptable things that happened between us. I never loved any woman I was romantically involved with as profoundly and honestly as Danicca.”
