Truck 1 of Eugene Springfield Fire was involved in challenging extrication at Hwy 99S and Old Willamette Hwy in Goshen

Eugene, OR – According to the officials, after a busy 48-hour shift, Truck 1 of Eugene Springfield Fire was involved in a challenging extrication.
The incident occurred on Sunday, August 11th, at approximately 4:40 AM, when ESF medics were dispatched to assist Pleasant Hill Goshen Fire with a complex motor vehicle crash at Hwy 99S and Old Willamette Hwy in Goshen, Oregon.
Upon arrival, first responders found a heavily damaged passenger vehicle positioned upright, with one patient ejected and another trapped inside.
Given the severity of the situation, Truck 1, led by Captain Hill—an experienced leader in extrication work who has trained much of the ESF staff—was called for mutual aid. ESF truck companies, which are equipped with a wide array of heavy extrication tools, often respond to such crashes to provide the necessary support.
The extrication process was complex and required careful stabilization of the vehicle to safely remove the trapped patient. One person was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, while another suffered serious injuries.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
