Adoptive mother, who has six children in her care, parked outside of a beauty salon and left her child for nearly 8 hours while she went to work inside, resulting in the child’s death

Omaha, NE – According to the police officials, the 40-year-old foster parent, later identified as Juanitta, was arrested and later charged with multiple charges, including child abuse by neglect resulting in death for her role in the death of her adopted 5-year-old son Dioniclo. Authorities say the child reportedly died after his parent left him in her vehicle for nearly 8 hours while she went to work in the beauty salon.
The fatal incident occurred last week, after the boy’s mom reportedly left her adopted child inside her vehicle in a parking lot for nearly 8 hours. During the long hours, she only checked on the boy 1-2 times. First responders checked the boy’s temperature, which reached 106F when he died. He was rushed to the hospital unresponsive only to be pronounced dead shortly after.
Prosecutors claim the child was left unsupervised during the entire time (nearly 8 hours). The 40-year-old foster parent now faces up to 20 years in prison after she war formally charged on Friday. The mother also has 5 other children in her custody. The boy’s biological uncIe, Mathew, told prosecutors that his nephew’s death could’ve been avoided.
The boy’s biological dad, PabIo, and his wife, Jeny, reportedly pursued custody for the little boy, but the court reportedly ‘assured them that the boy was in good hands’. The victim’s family launched a fundraiser to collect money for a lawyer so they could seek justice for the little child and bring his sister back to her biological parent.
