Eugene, OR – According to the statement, during fire season, the Eugene Springfield Fire Department warns that dried fuels and low humidity create conditions where even the smallest spark can ignite a rapidly spreading fire.

These heightened risks require extra caution from everyone enjoying outdoor recreation opportunities.

The Eugene Springfield Fire Department advises taking the following precautions to help prevent accidental fires:

– Be mindful of where you park your vehicle.
– Ensure tow chains are properly secured.
– Never throw lit cigarettes from vehicles.
