One person was transported to a local hospital after a canoe capsized on the Willamette River

Eugene, OR – According to the ESF officials, one person was transported to a local hospital following a canoe capsizing on the Willamette River on Saturday afternoon.
At 5:11 PM on June 29, Eugene Springfield Fire responded to a water rescue near the Knickerbocker bike bridge.
Bystanders reported that a canoe with two boaters on board had capsized.
One boater, wearing a life jacket, managed to reach the shore safely.
The other boater was rescued by a nearby drift boat.
ESF paramedics treated the rescued individual at the scene before transporting them to a local hospital for evaluation.
