The City of Eugene’s Sustainability program is inviting community members to participate in a survey aimed at fostering efficient, healthy and resilient homes

Eugene, OR – According to the city officials, the survey will be running until June 12 and it reportedly offers participants the chance to win a free air purifier if completed before June 7.

Additionally, there will be both an in-person open house and a virtual meeting during the first week of June.

Operating under the umbrella of Public Works, the Sustainability team is dedicated to aligning City practices with the council-approved Climate Action Plan 2.0 goals.

To gather comprehensive insights, the team has conducted a series of focus groups with various industries, and now they’re turning to the community for input.

Danielle Klinkebiel, a policy analyst with the Sustainability program, emphasized the significance of homes and buildings as the second-largest source of greenhouse gas emissions.

She stressed the importance of understanding community perspectives on transitioning to cleaner energy sources, enhancing energy efficiency, promoting healthier living environments, and bolstering resilience to extreme weather.

In conjunction with the survey, the Sustainability team has organized an in-person open house scheduled for June 5 from 4-7 p.m. at the downtown pavilion, as well as a virtual meeting on June 6 from noon to 1 p.m. Further details about these sessions can be found in the attached flier.

Insights collected from the community will inform the development of strategies aimed at reducing emissions from buildings and fostering a more sustainable future for Eugene.

This survey forms part of a broader engagement initiative aimed at decarbonizing buildings and achieving the community’s climate objectives. The results will be presented to the City Council in July.
