The University of Oregon announced that Phil and Penny Knight have donated a second $500 million gift to go towards bioengineering, applied scientific research and training, new opportunities for students and additional faculty at the university

OREGON – According to the officials, the donation will go towards launching the next phase of the Phil and Penny Knight Campus for Accelerating Scientific Impact.

They’ve also reported that a portion of the donation will also go towards a second building on the Knight Campus.

The donation further positions the university as a hub for discovery and innovation, while providing more opportunities for students.

Michael H. Schill, the University of Oregon president and professor of law, said:

“The work that will take place at the Knight Campus will improve people’s lives directly through innovative treatments and devices, and indirectly through company formation, job and economic development.”
