Lawmakers are gearing up for a 3rd special session of the Oregon Legislature

Eugene, OR – Gov. Kate Brown has called the legislature back to Salem for a one-day session Monday, December 21, 2020. The governor says COVID-19 and wildfire response are the top issues on her agenda.
Sen. James Manning, D-Eugene, said evictions are at the top of his list – and that both tenants and landlords need help.
“We know that we need to extend the eviction moritorium,” Manning said Tuesday. “We have to make sure that mom and pop landlords that own these properties receive payment – direct payment. And we got to make sure we keep Oregonians in homes. We are almost into the middle of winter, and we can’t have Oregonians and family members tossed out on the street.”
“All of this is due to no fault of their own,” he added. “Nobody is to blame for this except for this pandemic. There’s a time we as Oregonians have to come together, grab each other by the hands and say we can get through this together.”
