39-year-old man arrested on drug charges after Eugene police find 10 grams of meth outside elementary school
Eugene, OR – Eugene police arrested a 39-year-old man Thursday morning outside Danebo Elementary School after officers responded to a report of a disorderly subject in a fenced-off construction zone.
Officers were called to the area at about 6:53 a.m. Sept. 24 after the man was reportedly screaming inside the construction zone.
Police contacted James Calvin Scroggsmann, 39, of Eugene, and took him into custody. Officers found that he had three warrants for his arrest in Lane County and another warrant in a neighboring county.
Before transporting Scroggsmann to jail, officers found a 3-by-5-inch bag containing a white crystal-like substance in his pants pocket.
The substance field tested positive for methamphetamine and weighed approximately 10 grams.
Scroggsmann told officers he had found the bag four days earlier and did not know what was inside it.
He was lodged at the Lane County Jail on the outstanding warrants and a felony charge of unlawful possession of methamphetamine.
